foodwatch is a European civil society organisation (CSO) working for a transparent and fair food system. With offices in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels and Vienna, we fight for the right to safe and healthy food and against fraud and misleading practices of companies. We want laws that are not dictated by the agri-food industry lobby but benefit everyone and are consistently enforced by governments and authorities. foodwatch is a citizen-based watchdog in the agri-food sector. We are an independent counter-power, and do not accept any funding from governments, the food industry or the EU.
In order to advance the joint international campaign work of all foodwatch offices together, we are looking for a dedicated Coordinator (of) International Campaigns to start as soon as possible.
Your future tasks
This is a newly created position. The post will be the central point of both the coordination, facilitation and implementation of the international campaigns of foodwatch. You will be working with colleagues in the international campaigns team (International Campaigns Director (ICD), Senior Campaign Strategist (SCS), Head of Brussels Office (HoB), and International Media Officer (IMO)) and the national foodwatch offices. You will contribute to all stages of the international campaign development, planning and delivery, ensuring that the collaboration and organisation is working optimally and communication is effective.
The post needs a person with strong project management and organisational skills, as well as experience with implementation of international campaigns across several countries. Strong communication skills in our working language English are essential, both spoken and written, as well as excellent social skills and ability to bring people together to work for a common goal.
This means in particular:
- You coordinate the international campaign working groups (with members of all foodwatch office) and facilitate the space for effective communication and cooperation with campaigners in order to deliver the foodwatch international campaigns.
- Together with the campaigns and communications teams, you ensure coordinated external communications on agreed core messages for international campaigns (social media, website and press).
- You deliver parts of the international campaign tactics, along with the rest of the campaign working group. You support the ICD and SCS in the development of international campaign strategies and tactics together with the relevant campaign working group.
- You are a linking element between the campaign teams and the management team.
- As part of the role, you will occasionally travel to meetings in Berlin, Cologne or Brussels with the foodwatch international team or other relevant stakeholders. Travel duties are about 25 days per year.
Your profile
- You have experience in campaign organisation, coordination and facilitation at international/European level.
- You have experience in campaigning and have become acquainted with different campaigning contexts.
- You have strong communication and social skills, and an ability to motivate and organise others.
- You have a collaborative and pragmatic approach and strong organisational skills.
- You enjoy working in an international team.
- You have a proactive and flexible attitude and the ability to think out of the box; you can adapt plans according to evolving situations.
- Should there be a need to talk, you are happy to be the first to pick up the phone.
- You are fluent in English both oral and written; advanced knowledge of further EU-languages is an advantage.
- You are located in an EU Member State.
- Additional assets are: experience with online mobilisation and social media work; a background in foodwatch related topics and understanding of the main challenges of the current food system and related regulations; knowledge of EU decision-making structures and procedures.
