Jörg Rohwedder, Executive Director foodwatch International

After completing an apprenticeship as a bank clerk, he studied social economics in Hamburg. From early on, his experience in building grassroots movements, his traditional economic background and his perspective as a trainer in non-violence and anti-racism were central to his political work.

He has been involved in numerous international campaigns, such as the Europe-wide mobilization against glyphosate and the struggle for the right to conscientious objection in Turkey, where he worked for two years as a human rights activist. An early opponent of Nuclear power, he has helped to build the Anti-nuclear movement in Germany, which has finally seen success with the last reactors shutting down in 2022.

Jörg was a senior campaigner for WeMove Europe, as well as the executive director of the Bewegungsstiftung. Before joining foodwatch he worked as a political director of LobbyControl, an organization he accompanied during its foundation and development.
